In general, Firefox is more secure than IE. Additionally, Firefox has a very robust plugin selection that many people swear by.
Currently I'm partial to Google Chrome because it is just so fast.
Additionally, IE does not support any HTML 5 functions that websites are slowly starting to add to their sites, think Google Wave.
