The Phoenix Zoo, the Arizona Game and Fish Department and participants in the Department's Focus Wild program helped removed non-native turtles from the pond in front of the zoo. The turtles had been unlawfully released into the pond by owners who no longer wanted them and are a threat to native turtles and their habitat. The captured turtles were sent to the Phoenix Herpetological Society.
