MONTREAL, Nov. 26, 2011 -- Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby speaks to the media following his team's 4-3 Bell Centre overtime win over the Canadiens. A hot-button topic was the hit by Habs' Max Pacioretty on Penguins' Kris Letang, who left the game but returned to score the OT winner. Crosby was playing his fourth game after being shelved for months with a concussion. Dave Stubbs video

  • Is the NHL going to hand the cup to the Pittsburgh Penguins because Sid the sniffling kid is back now that would be bad for hockey !!!

  • So is the NHL just going to hand Pittsburgh the Puck because Sid the Sniffling Kid is Back now that's bad for Hockey !!!

  • @innismor11 well i'm not sure why it wouldn't be ruled as illegal contact to the head. i think Shanahan could go as far as a one-game suspension at the most, if he wanted to send more of a message. however, i wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if he just gets a small fine.

  • @domaug By "should" are you speaking in terms of how you would like it to be, or in terms of the Official NHL rules? Because there is no "fine" available to the League in this instance. There is only suspension as supplementary discipline for an illegal hit to the head. Monday Shanahan will rule that this hit did not involve illegal contact with the head, and he'll post up a video at NHL.com to show you why. Neither you nor I have to like it (I didn't like the 'no suspension' for Malone-Campoli)

  • Finally! Crosby addresses a problem that is blown out of proportion & actually makes some good points

  • @innismor11 that was during the game, which is actually a missed call on their part. like i've said in other comments, if it were legal by the rules (not just by instance, but by the actual rules), i wouldn't be bothered other than that Letang was knocked out of the play. but he still hit his head with his shoulder. intent doesn't matter. they're trying to remove that stuff from the game, so Pacioretty should at least receive a fine.

  • 3:15 Sometime Crosby talks out both sides of his mouth at teh same time. "Everyone knows you can't touch the goalie". Minutes earlier in the game just ended teammates of his interfered with Montreal goalie Price to score twice. One was waived off; both should have been. Ref gives them teh winning goal in OT, rewarding the Pens for a game of running the Montreal goalie. "Everyone," apparently "knows shit".

  • @dcoulter45 Hit would have been body to body except that Letang put his head into it. Ref's said it was clean. Shanahan will say the same tomorrow. You don't appear to know much about these things. There is no "fine" for this sort of situation. There's only suspension with commensurate loss of salary. As for Pacioretty and any "history", you don't know him clearly. That's about the first hit he's put on in his two-yeer hockey career. He's a pretty big guy that does not hit. He finally tried one.
