On March 19, 2010, Chicago was awarded $11.5 million for the Chicago Tobacco Prevention Project. The 2-year project will be overseen by Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago and Chicago Department of Public Health and will include a media campaign, policy initiatives and smoking cessation programming to reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke.
Chicago Tobacco Prevention Project is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Communities Putting Prevention to Work Project.
