I personally found this movie to be both moving, and thought provoking. I laughed, I cried, I raged. As a western woman in America, this film gave me a small insight into Indian culture and traditions, even with the movie being set during a time in Indian history where sweeping changes were happening.

still goes on india? hello, this movie is set in the 1940s! its really smart of you to watch a couple of movies and consider them as the final verdict on what happens in india. I suggest that instead of admiring deepa mehta for educating the public, you should understand that you are NOT an indian, you do not live in india and so you DO NOT know what "goes on" here. so shut your trap, buddy!

I agree,I was reading someone's really obnoxious and rude response ro Spandex and that was really uncalled for. Every country had traditions that

infringed on human rights,look at Slavery in the U.S. People need to educate each other not yell at eachother which is immature. No culture is better than anyone else

no its all a dark part of indian histroy that no longer exists. and dont worry dude its not your fault for making that comment. you didnt know thats all..people can get so deffensive sometimes. :) and yes the movie was a masterpiece!!
