These simple contact mics, made from piezo discs and housed beautifully using three bottle caps, turn any 1/4" cable into a contact microphone or drum trigger.

In this video you will hear various objects directly through the contact microphone, which is plugged into the camcorder recording the footage.

These microphones are currently available at www.getlofi.com for $15 apiece or $65 for a Six-Pack, shipping included. Go to http://www.getlofi.com/?page_id=1479 for more information and www.getlofi.com/shop to order!

  • your audio only comes out the left speakers

  • The contact mics are mono, not stereo, that's probably why... I just plugged it directly into my camcorder and started taping.

  • what is the thing youre playing at :17-:36?

  • That's my 1978 Chromaharp brand Autoharp.

  • *tongue-in-cheekie*

    Tooooo much Mountain Dew!!!!

    *snickersnarlfle*

  • Heh, yeah, Mountain Dew is the unofficial sponsor of Creme DeMentia Bottle-Cap Contact Microphones... We filmed a large portion of this at a friend's house (big thanks to Winking Zombie, look him up on eBay and Cafe Press)and we were just banging on anything we could think of that was on hand, and Mr. Zombie happens to like his Mountain Dew.

  • Starting at 5:27: Ahh, yes... the hammer-and-guy wire trick. Ben Burtt, the sound designer of Star Wars, used that trick to create the laser blast sounds.

  • I love how you guys included a huge variety of different possibilities in this video. as someone interested in noise/music/sound I have found this VERY interesting. I'd buy one i I didn't already have couple already, lol.

It'd be cool if you could adjust bass, treble, etc. on something like that, or even just mics w/ added distortion or other fx. Not sure how you'd do that, but it'd add a bit more kick to just a standard contact mic that anyone could make at home.

But I digress. great vid :)

  • I love the "laser" sounds at 5:40 !

  • What's that first instrument in the video? That thing with all the snares? That accordion thing with strings. What's that called.

  • amazing. I want one so much +_+

  • I'm getting these, period. Especially the bass string jam 5.00 is something that just blew my mind.

  • I'm gonna contact mic my guinea pig.
