@yamahonkawazuki Yup. So, I don't mean to take anything away from any one guitar player, but watching this clip of Jerry's Breakdown, there's no way on earth that Terry Clements could ever have played that. There just isn't. They both died too early in life.
@yamahonkawazuki Well, disagree all you like. This isn't war, you know. It's just opinions, and as a guitar player of over 40 years I can tell you that, without any doubt, the things Red Shea did on the guitar were incredible, especially his fingerstyle fills. The things Clements did on Gordon Lightfoot's records satisfied the requirement, but mostly they were very average, very hackneyed and not very original licks. They're not in the same category....well, except that they're both dead.
@rickcee i will have to respectfully disagree. i hold each one on the same level. each was great in their own way. may they both rest in peace and jam in GODS band
Always loved this guy. He and Jerry Reed should have played together. That would have been some acoustic fireworks, 'eh? No offense, Terry Clements, but man, you can never hope to play as well as Mr. Shea.
Man...Red had some chops! He just jumps out of those early Lightfoot tunes. Thanks for the video.
