This is a song I wrote a few years ago. To make the video, I borrowed clips from a few well-known movies and music videos that I found on YouTube and stitched them together.

Counting Shadows

Sheets that frame your absent body
Like skin you shed and left when morning came;
A thread of sun--a hair you left with dawn,
With soft-lifting curtains, with me.

Once, I dreamed I was a friar
And pharmed the meadow's herbal treasures,
But winter fell and broke my holy spell
And left bitter matins with me.

Bells were ringing 'cross the courtyard,
A clerk was sweeping up outside a shop,
And children played in shifts throughout the day,
While I counted shadows where I lay.
