http://mamanatural.com In our last video we showed you our cloth diaper setup, and people wrote in and asked us why we chose bumGenius. (See bumGenius diapers on Amazon: http://amzn.to/jtckc6 )

Frankly, cloth diapering is WAY more complicated than I thought. There are:

Prefolds
Flats
Fitteds
Pocket Diapers
All-in Ones

Ahh! It was a little overwhelming.

I was looking for the simplest option

I liked the fact that, with bumGenius, there was only one size to buy. That was HUGE in terms of ease and cost. And bumGenius got crazy good reviews on Amazon. http://amzn.to/jtckc6

We purchased the bumGenius 4.0s right as they came out, which helped us feel like we were buying cutting edge diaper technology :)

We chose to buy 24 because that was enough to let us go three days at a time before we need to do laundry.

We love our bumGenius

We started using them when Griffin was 10 days old (after meconium) and have used them just about every day now for eight months.

We do see a couple cons with bumGenius diapers

They're bulky. We kind of like this extra padding, but if you're looking for a fitted look, the one-size diapers ain't for you.
Colors aren't all that bright. Instead, they're light pastels. On the upside, they won't show through white pants or stand out in an outfit.

The diapers have snaps to adjust to three different sizes, which will take your baby from newborn right up until potty training.

Each bumGenius diaper comes with two inserts:

Newborn
One-size inserts included

We used the newborn insert for about 3 months with Griffin. Then we started using the bigger, one-size insert at night.

bumGenius one-size diapers come in two varieties

"Hook and loop" (Velcro)
Snaps
We bought half and half. At first, Mike and I both preferred the snaps version. But the velcro is pretty easy too. And the velcro are easy for grandmas and the cloth uninitiated to use, as they go on just like disposables.

Only downside to velcro is that you have to remember to attach the velcro tabs to a pad in the back of the diaper when you wash them, otherwise they'll stick to and tear up the other diapers in the washer.

Good luck with your cloth diaper research!

  • i think it should be mentioned that not all cloth diapers work the same on all babies, so just because bumgenius worked great for mamanatural, doesn't mean they will for all who are watching. it just sucks when you invest in an entire stash of one kind of diaper and they don't work for you and your baby.

  • @jennayoung99 Yes, this is what worked for me. That's all I do is share my experience. You can always buy a small quantity to test first.

  • If you go to Cotton Babies website you can get them in a bunch of bright colors and patterns. I absolutely LOVE by bumGenius! Wish I had had them from the very start, rather than the prefold with pins and covers. (ugh)

  • @cmkSupa Good to know! Thank you.

  • how do u guys handle the bfeeding poops you know they are all watery and explosive at times... that is one of my concerns that's the only thing that is holding us back from making the change to cloth diaper. Our baby is 3 months old

  • @latitiko We haven't had too many "blowouts." The diapers can hold a lot of mess :). We just spray them off in toliet and put in diaper pail. It's been great.

  • Omgshh ! I love Mama Natural and Family ! you are so wonderful to watch and so sweet and lovely. thank you !

  • I have Bums & I dislike them, So sad that I invested so much money They leak Leak & LEak

  • I use Kawaii diapers and I put up a review.

  • The ad before this video is for huggies. How ironic.

  • Also, I think I've found the BEST way to wash them. We have hard water. I was using Tide Free & Gentle liquid detergent, just ran out (same jug for 6 months, lol!). So I bought some Nature Clean powdered detergent, and Calgon (powder) water softener. I think it worked much better, and rinsed a lot cleaner.

  • I don't like cloth at night. They never leaked or anything, very absorbent. But the SMELL in the morning! SO gross, ugh. That and he got a bad "ammonia burn" once from being really wet but not waking up overnight. :( Besides, I find it harder to get the ammonia smell out when you have inserts that are absolutely soaked with pee. So I use disposables overnight, and still love my cloth during the day! :)

  • how come you don't use the bumgenius organic all in one without inserts?
