In defense of sweet iced tea

I attempt to refute the claim that "iced tea is inherently indecent" by demonstrating how to make it properly. (Also I nearly splash myself with boiling water.)

There are plenty of ways to do it, but yes, this is mine.

In this technique the water slowly passes through the tea (infusing) and then joins the sugar. Your preferences may of course vary.

I find if I add sugar first, it doesn't fully melt (1 gallon tea to half to 3/4 cup sugar). But added last, it melts away better.

Huh. I make my tea noticeably sweeter than you, I see. (Once you account for my tendency to use enough ice to water it down to two gallons, I use 1 1/4 cup per gallon. But less than that is good too, especially if you put some mint in it. Hm, that reminds me, somebody with a good mint tea recipe should teach the Britpack about the joys of mint tea next. And maybe biscuits, of the American variety.)

Also I should mention for the sake of fairness and for the sake of British people scared off by the large amount in the recipe found here that I actually use anywhere from one and a half to two and a half cups per gallon-that-dilutes-to-two of tea; tonight I had a craving for something on the sweet end of the spectrum.)

I think it's pretty much safe to say that no one makes sweet tea the same. And no one makes it "right", except for oneself. =)
