Correction: ...Mr. Demaret is the "first golfer" featured in this Video.
-
The golfer featured at the end of this video is the great Jimmy Demaret, the first "3 Time" Masters Champion and later, along with Gene Sarazen, pioneer of golf presentation during the early days of Television. Mr. Demaret's book, "The Swing Is The Thing" coined the expression used to this day; and still holds true: The Swing "Is" The Thing!

I think this could be my grandfather, Buck White, a contemporary of Demaret and Worsham and a good friend of fellow Memphian Carey Middlecoff, who is featured in some of these videos. It looks like him, although I only knew him in his later years. The swing is very much like his. He was known as a teacher in later years, but he played in more than a dozen U.S. Opens and still holds the low round record, with Palmer, for the Senior PGA Championship.

Thank you so much for your postings. The Hogan footage elsewhere is a wonderful gift. I've looked for years for video of Jimmy Demaret, and am thrilled to find this.

Yes - Demaret, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. Not sure about second. Could be Worsham. Thanks for more video. Keep looking for more treasures.
