Rhythm, part 3,
While we are at it, another rhythm with groupings of three notes is the Slide, in 12/8 time sig: ONE two three two two three three two three four two three/ ONE two three two two three three two three four two three/....
A Slide can easily be confused with a Jig, since two jig measures fits into one slide measure. Focus on where are the accented beats.
Then there is the Mazurka, 3/4 time sig. one TWO three/ one TWO three/...
Jig = 6/8
SlipJig = 9/8
Slide = 12/8
Waltz = 3/4

Rhythm cont.
A waltz is 3/4 time sig. ONE two three/ONE two three...
The Butterfly is a Slip Jig, correctly played and taught in this lesson, in 9/8, but mis-labelled a Jig in the title.
All of these rhythms composed of groups of three notes can "sort of" fit into another time signature -3/4, 6/8, 9/8 if you ignore the accent. Each of these rhythms has unique dances that go along with the rhythm. The Butterfly is not a Waltz.

Great tune, nice lessson, thanks for posting.
One minor detail, the rhythm. 9/8 time signature makes this a Slip Jig. I count the measures like this: ONE two three, two two three, three two three/ ONE two three, two two three, three two three/..... (CAP = accent) Just like your lesson, three groups of three 8th notes, accent on 1st.
A Jig is in 6/8 time sig., and sounds like this: ONE two three, two two three/ ONE two three, two two three/...

Play that most weeks down at the local pub session, we play it faster though and I play the rhythm for it.

Hi Al,
Do you mean the tab has an error in it, or you had trouble downloading it? Let me know, and I'll try to fix the problem. It's working fine on my end - so your help would be appreciated.-Lisa

It still won't download Lisa, I am running a Mac so that may be the problem. Really cool song and I was gonna finger pick it instead of flat picking it. Don't worry about it if it is a Mac issue.
Thanks Al

Hey Al,
Probably not a Mac issue, as I'm on a Mac too and it's working for me. If you send me your email address privately, I'll be happy to send you a PDF directly. It's a great tune, and there are only a few days left till St. Patrick's Day!
