Photographed by three-time Emmy Award winning filmmaker Neil Rettig, "American Eagle" is the first HD hour on bald eagles ever. In this behind-the-scenes exclusive, Rettig talks about the making of the film while he captures footage of the spring migration along the Mississippi River. Rettig shares his favorite experiences from the filming and explains why he believes wildlife filmmakers have a special responsibility to move people to think about the natural world, now more than ever.

"American Eagle" airs on PBS Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 8 p.m. (check local listings). "American Eagle" is part of the 28th season of the Peabody and Emmy award-winning series produced by Thirteen in association with WNET.ORG for PBS. Major support provided by Canon U.S.A. Inc. • @babycheeks530

    Yes,they are!!

  • Ian't lovely to see a bald eagle flying free like this.

  • @Silverhazed Agreed

  • @Silverhazed Yeah... I didn't ask you if you were bothered and I didn't ask you what study. The bald eagle represents USA & my comment is relevant to it. It doesn't take Einstein to connect the relevance between the video and my comment.

  • @lfi18593 "behind the scenes" it's in the title.

  • @MiiszUniquexX Well actually the real reason why im bothered is because i study sociology and people like you just leave me with a big WTF. Trying to discover your logic , or lack of it.

  • @MiiszUniquexX You are probably right but still, why would you relate something as pure and beautiful as this bird to that rotten corrupted country ? It just leaves me speechless. You're just trying to check america's popularity ... for some reason you need reassurance that America is loved. 75 % of the world hates USA , learn to live with it.

  • @Silverhazed its something called... mind ur own business and just skip the comment if it bothers you so much.

  • @MiiszUniquexX What does it have to do with this nature documentary ? Stop relating everything to global politics :S.
