Was at this gig and yes they sounded none too flash. They'd just got off the plane from the states and sounded like the pilot mixed them too. Mate saw them a week later and were fab.
He does sond a bit rough live sometimes though I still rate Sugar as one of the best live acts I ever saw (and probably the loudest). Saw them in Britain a couple of times and Husker Du in Paris before that (that was also a great gig). The guy just makes a great noise!!!!!
@crushthevicar Yeah I was there as well dude. Sunday June 13 1993 Line up: The Cure Carter USM Sugar Belly The Frank & Walters Senseless Things Catherine Wheel Kingmaker The Family Cat Damon & Graham from Blur.
this is Bob Mould of Husker Du, a cult post-punk band. This track is taken from Sugars debut album Copper Blue, they followed up with Beaster, which i found was a darker, conceptual offering. The track J.C Auto was released from that as a single. I saw them live in the early 90's, and they were v.god. Thats as much as i know, hope it helps.
wow, Finsbury Park, 1993? headliners The Cure, Belly , Carter USM, Frank and Walters, and some other people. I can't remember the date, but the USA had just beat England at football, and Bob Mould had just been outed by The Sun and shouted something about them being welcome to suck his cock any time.
i have this show on a bootleg video. shot from the crowd and lots of obstructions sadly. but it also has a show from new york academy in 92 which is stunning. close filming but the bottom of the screen has a tracking line across it. if anyone can do a dvd of this and take off the line at the bottom like a widescreen effect, let me know.

Wow. That clip was once available on a now-defunct Bob Mould tribute site and I haven't seen it in, like, 10 years. Thanks!

Debaser was from '89, Good Idea from '92. Bob even acknowledged the song was "Pixies Influenced".
