We live in the eastern part of Yorba Linda. The fire broke out to the east of us in Corona. Within about 3 hours, it had roared down the Santa Ana River bed, which is about two hundred yards from the front door of our condo. It also burned to the north of us. While we were basically surrounded by fire, it never burned into our complex (although an apartment complex directly across the canyon did burn down in Anaheim Hills).

While we were getting ready to evacuate, I ran down the street and started shooting footage of the River. The last part of the video is shot from our upstairs balcony, looking across Santa Ana Canyon towards Anaheim Hills. My converstation during this sequence will sound very disconnected because I'm simulataneously talking with my family on the phone.

  • just curious, i live on newport lane, the village farthest from the shopping center, which one r u?

  • I think I'm on the other side of the complex...we're on the opposite side of the small parking area adjacent to the clubhouse/pool area.

  • Yes, I live at the Villages as well. I live on Old Village Road near the clubhouse.

We did not evacuate, but we could tell that a lot of people did. It was very quiet around the neighborhood that evening.

  • It was shot from the area of La Palma, just west of Bryant Ranch (just west of Via Lomas de Yorba East).

  • This is probably one of the most eye-opening vids I've seen of the fire so far. I live in the Midwest, far from Cali. To see real people get out there and show the net world was is going on--it gives a much different perspective.

  • Dude, that shot you got of that house on fire, my friends house is across the street from that house. I was in the neighborhood helping out a friend evacuate & we just watched in horror as that house just explode into flames & then it was a domino effect!Well good news is, my friend got all of his important document stuff, memories, electronic stuff & clothes, but the bad news, embers from that house destroyed my friends house. He says he's going to rebuild with fireproof this time.

  • is this buy the villages? we got evaced and were back now ( i live at villages)

  • is this shot from Bryant Ranch?
