Gov. Granholm's press conference announcing the Canadian government would commit $550 million of Michigan's cost to build a new Detroit River International Crossing. The bridge could create 10,000 Michigan jobs directly, and another 20,000 from increased economic activity.

  • This is not good for Michigan, it is bad for Michigan. A few temp jobs is not worth the cost. Michigan can't afford to keep wasting money, and if Canada wants the bridge let them pay for it.

  • This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. It is funny how we need a new bridge to help "support" our decreasing economy. The number of vehicles that crossed the bridge in 2010 was and increase of 12% from 2009 to 7.2million, but it is still down 2% from 2008 and 41% from 2000 where the bridge saw 12million vehicles. So with all this said how are we in a NEED of a new bridge with the drastic decrease in traffic. With a governor that is supported by the carpenters and millwrights I wonder?

  • Hm... really would like to know where you're getting your numbers. Ten thousand jobs? Plus another twenty or thirty? (Love how the description and what you actually said don't agree) And what the hell does "supporting 220 thousand other jobs" even mean? You seem to love to toss the word "job" around alot while tacking on positive sounding words like "create" and "support," all the while reminding us that we STILL have the highest unemployment rate. Frankly, I've had enough years of your crap.
