Dainieljones - ypu mention the mechanics of improvisation, but leave out emotional depth, musical skill, heart and a wonderful spirit. Pompous fool.

Thanks Mr, Garner you are the most enjoyable and melodic musician there ever was, nitram,
-
I seem to remember reading someplace that he could not read music.

@barkulator Thanks, well said.

The greatest pianist ever to roam this planet, a man touched by God. I love those wonderful close-ups of his face -- a man deeply in love with his music and the audience.
Feel free to check out my little jazz/ swing site. Link is in my profile.
THX for the stunning clip.
Peace & See you,

He always sat on phone books favoring the Boston one for it's size. He was asked about that by Johnny Carson one night and said he was more able to adjust the height in strange venues. He wrote the song Misty on an airplane and was noted for not being able to read music and when asked by Carson why he didn't learn, his famous answer was "Man, once you've seen one note you've seen em all"! Carson almost fell off his chair laughing.
