Synopsis:
The directorial debut of Drew Barrymore, stars Ellen Page (Juno) as Bliss, a rebellious Texas teen who throws in her small town beauty pageant crown for the rowdy world of roller derby. Marcia Gay Harden (Mystic River, Pollock) plays Bliss disapproving mother, while Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live) and Juliette Lewis (Old School) play roller-derby stars.

i must mention the writer of the book, real-life roller derby girls, and director-awesome drew barrymore (well you knew that part) were involved, "whip it" is true to its roots and i really can't recommend it highly enough. also i think its good and appropriate for all ages, though of course kids under about 6 probably won't understand much. 7 to 97 a must :) peace and enjoy :) its out on dvd everywhere...if you can't find it where you live try their website it supports them. :)

my favorite movie. i live in austin, tx and have friends in the local roller derby teams. all of the actresses are fantastic, the male actors are also great, an all-around 5 star movie (flawless directing-writing-acting-music­-energy-stunts-production), endearing, uplifting, hits you at the right moments in the right spots/ways, enjoyable, smarter with more depth than just about any other film marketed to women/teens. everyone i know male female roller derby film snobs whoever love it. :) whip it
