I live in Oxford Ms. (Ole Miss). In 1991 a white girl asked me to prom. Word got back to the teachers, etc and a counselor called me in and discouraged me from going. Her words, "We don't need anymore black boys hanging from trees." . What?? I'm like 16 at the time. I had to lie to the girl & make up some excuse not to go..she already bought her dress.

Certainly Prom Night is uplifting, but how uplifted can you truly be, knowing that the following year, Charleston High School had another all-white prom. Or that Saltzman's film, far from capturing a dying tradition, taps into a new era of educational segregation in USA, with recent reports that conclude the nation's schools are more racially segregated now than at any other time since 1954. Which makes Prom Night in Mississippi that much more important to watch.

@PhillyLucky7 no, it doesn't. "earring on the right ear means gay" is something of the youth , not the older generation. He's an elderly man--it doesn't apply to him because he's obviously not going to aware of or interested in the current trends. And Morgan Freeman is an amazing actor and a beast so stop hatinggg

poor woman, can't see past her nose. living someone else's ideals. God has no color, but I respect their views, they come here to experience life and not matter how many life times is up to them. Mainwhile people that concure these issues move on the other advanced planets and galaxies.

For those of us you live in America we know how embarrassing this is. America stands for equality and this type of racist crap still goes on. Any type of segregation should not exist and when parents spew this racist crap to their children it only makes it worse. Morgan Freeman you are an amazing person for standing up for the children who realize how important it is to break this tradition. And thanks to the children in this video you stood up for what's right!

@7475flyersfan well because different races of humans lived in different continents bone and muscle structure has adapted to suit each races habitat, this is why people that have a family history of living somewhere are defined differently. But yes as far as chromosomes we are all the same ;)

if God didn't want races to mix then he would have made the DNA incomparable, the same reason why you can't cross a Dog with a Cat...but that's not the case now is it?

Woman at the front, you stupid fuck! If that's your problem then why do you feel comfortable living in the land of the Indians? Caucasians are from Europe. If that's how you feel (like you expressed it) then you should go back to Europe

graduated high school in 88' we were intergrated. I had never heard of a segragated prom in mississippi. Perhaps this some timy town in north mississippi? Whites are only 50% of the student body and 15% in others in South Mississippi.
ok, i'm from Mississippi and they picked the town that is still stuck in the past.......does NOT mean we are all that way. we are NOT all racist and i'm waiting for someone to say so.
