Jerry Jeff Walker is my favorite artist I learned to play the guitar just so I could sing his songs around the campfire. I often change the words to tell my stories. I rewrote this song so I could sing it about my son. "Search laidbackjohn He Knows his daddy drives". It is NOT for sale or download because it is still the property of Mr. Jerry Jeff Walker. Jessie was my very first best friend the way I remember it! I was there when Susan and Jerry Jeff brought Django home from the hospital. and I was heart broken feeling torn from them when business dragged us apart! I miss them terribly and will always love them!!! xo Vanessa

This is a really beautiful song. It's funny that someone known to be a world-class hell-raiser would write such beautiful tender songs like Candles & Cut Flowers, My Old Man, Little Man, Morning Song for Sally and of course this one.

Jessie and Django both enjoyed great songs written about them by their dad (as did their mom, Susan).

Just want to thank an old friend,"haven't seen in 24 years." for turning me on to Jerry Jeff, John Prine, John Stewart, Jonathan Edwards, and the nitty gritty dirt band. I think of you often Rob.
