  • @syxepop ...an automatic license renewal" deal.

  • @syxepop Actually, 13 was licensed to NJ from the very beginning. They've since moved to NYC and have not returned. As for WWOR, some office functions did move back to New York City at Fox 5's studios, but the station's operations and studios are still in Secaucus. And the reason for the move to NJ was because RKO General was in danger of losing the license, and seeing a chance at getting an automatic renewal of the license, they agreed to move to take the FCC up on the "Move to NJ, get..

  • @videonut33 , IIRC, the reason WWOR moved to NJ was for a deal between the NJ State Gov't and the FCC that (since there were NO TV stations anchored within the State boders at the time) they would renew (for free, I do believe) the license of ANY TV station that relocated within NJ state borders ( + the lesser costs of operating in NJ vs. NY). WWOR-9, WNET-13, WNJU-47 and maybe another few lesser stations took the offer; AFAIK, only WNET is still in (Newark) NJ, the others moved back to NY...

  • yea took the words right outta my mouth lol

  • WOR-TV (now WWOR-TV) was due on ID will video (1986 Bumper).
