GoPro HD night test. Camera mounted on a 2004 Pontiac GTO 5.7. Used r5 setting - 1080p (1920x1080) @ 30fps with waterproof/wind noise reduction backing. Used spot metering. Due to placement of camera, wind noise is still high. Center metering probably better for night video. Video edited and encoded using Pinnacle Studio 14.

  • Are there alot of mounting options for a vehicle? How and where do u have urs mounted? Thanks!

  • @CrazyGook - It uses an industrial strength suction cup so you can mount it on almost any flat surface you want on your car inside or out. I've had it mounted on the hood, inside the windshield, on the rear quarter panel, front quarter panel, and the roof.

  • @clee130 Thanks for the quick reply! Kind of stinks there is no screen so you can see what you are recording. Are hardwiring options included or additional ad ons?

  • @CrazyGook - GoPro just released a firmware update so you can have a live feed out so that should help with the setup to see what you're recording. I don't believe you can charge and record at the same time. You can go to their website and see all the other accessories that they have.

  • @clee130 One more question, is there a time and date stamp thats viewable while watching video on pc or mac?

  • @CrazyGook - I think that's an option during the live feed out but I'm not sure if there is a time stamp on the video itself. That might be a question for GoPro directly.

  • yes you can record and charge it at the same time!!

  • Yeah, i did something similar tonight, but i had spot metering turned on and the noise is shocking..

  • @northsiderollers Pinnacle Studio has an option to remove sound. Other than using a video editing program IDK

  • is there anyway to make the wind nosie go away? or it happens with the casing in it. can u remove it?

  • thats a sweet video man! dont know which one i like more, the GoPro or the GTO haha, and i thought that ambulance was a cop signalling you to pullover after that race! lol

  • nice vid and work.

thanks for the details on your setup

  • GoPro SUCKS at night...but a wonderful camera for daylight! I got my first GoPro HD a year ago, just got my 2nd one about 2 months ago...I highly recommend this camera to anyone! Eventhough it does suck at night lol

  • just put a small piece of foam over the mic might take the wind noise down a bit

  • @fsC130J Well, Spot makes the footage darker so I'd say no. That's just my opinion though. The night test I did in 1080P is without Spot metering and it came out pretty good.

  • @clee130 actually you can charge and film at the same time, but you need power adaptor for the car.
