I am setting the stage for introducing exponential and logarithmic functions by revisiting inverse functions. This is a sample of what we do at FMI. I am nervous being on camera and I am sure math teachers can pick up a few mis-spoken terms. Beyond that, I hope to help shed light on the troublesome section called, "logarithms".

  • I have a question. You were showing the the horizontal line test method with 3 examples. The first example started with a vertical line test and since it failed you said it wasnt a function but just a relationship. On the second example it passed the vertical test but failed the horizontal. So why did you call that one a function? I couldnt hear what you said sound like something fell in the background for example 2 explanation.

  • Yes, the second example passed the vertical line test, therefore it is found to be a function. The horizontal line test checks to see if a function has an inverse function. In other words, the horizontal line test checks to see if the function is 1 to 1.

  • Not clear writing. Ues dark marker and focus the camera.

  • Thanx for the help. I am trying to figure out how to improve the video quality. I will keep working on it. If anyone has found methods that work, let me know.

  • i did too :)

  • i can't tell ur nervous so don't worry bro

  • Is a lot of this information from Algebra II? I'm taking Algebra II online, and I have already learned some of this...

  • then what is f(x)=x^2

  • look again please ^_^

  • I think you kind of messed up in the video because you gotta have one input for every output in order for it to be a function.
