MATT GFELLER- Reynolds High School football linebacker Matt Gfeller (#57) was critically injured playing his first game on Friday, August 22, 2008.

Matt Gfeller, age 15, suffered a head injury with ten minutes of the game left to play. With Matt on life support at NC Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC, Matt's family watched from a window as students and friends marched up Cloverdale Avenue for a prayer vigil.

  • good for you man i couldnt imagin beinga friend/parent or teamate and dealing with this. i play HS lacrosse up in NJ and i just hope nothing like this happens

  • What saddens me so much is the fact that medical community, and coaches have the public convinced that head injuries are a rare occurrence in football. Death may be rare but there are thousands of kids that have sustained life threatening head or spinal cord injuries and never fully recover. Some need months and even years of physical therapy just to be able to walk again. Concussions & head injuries have become an epidemic in this country. Check out the website Glorybound.
