Some 24 hours before the House of Representatives votes on the Senate's health-care bill and possibly sends it to the White House for signing, President Obama addressed the Democratic caucus with a heartfelt, rambling speech invoking the work of previous generations of Democrats and quoting Lincoln: "I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true."
President Lincoln, in his own words:
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred.
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away man's initiative and independence.

@xadam2dudex - blaming things on "speculators" is a cop-out; before the current recession, global demand for oil was HUGE and INCREASING.

Snicker. Obama assumed that the quote was 3000% genuine Lincoln

@ed2kou1 A) learn the difference between then and than or is that another "type o". B) Who doesn't want healthcare? I have Insurance and went to the ER for a fractured radius and it cost me %800. I couldn't imagine how much it would have cost without Insurance. This is the only developed country in the world where people go bankrupt because of healthcare. Tell me does that sound like you are "free" you aren't even free to get cancer cause if you do, you will go bankrupt!

ok, I reviewed all my comments I didn't use the word THAN..I do know the difference..I went to the ER one night around midnight with a fractured wrist..cost: ER room $1000+, ER doctor + radiologist + x-rays + supplies = deductible paid by myself..health insurance cost me around $22,000 over 5 yrs..I know how much it cost..it's a ripoff..they use illness for profit..%800 did u mean $800 ?
