Simple Minds performing their song "Kick Inside of Me" live at the Ngaruawahia Sweetwater Festival in New Zealand, February 1984.
This song was only ever performed live a handful of times. When is was, it was usually the last song of the concert due to Dereks fingers being cut by his bass guitar!!!
None of the performances have ever been officially realeased.
An alternate version appeared on the Simple Minds "Silver Box" but it wasn't a live track.

Original studio album can be found on "Sparkle in the Rain".

  • there is an amzing session version of this i think it was Kid Jensen radio 1 circa 1984. Can anyone upload it?

  • @emile235 Was it on the "silver box"?

  • Brilliant post Tony, this is what YouTube is for.

  • @1927club Agreed! This video is a bit random!! The location is a bit odd too!! I think there were roughly 6 live performances although not all were taped. Derek might have told the band to drop it from the set to protect his fingers!!!!

  • one of the great album tracks by the minds, first time i have heard a live version. great effort.

  • @TerenceHill24 I have the copy of them playing it at Copenhagen in 84 (as well as the Sparkle In The Rain tour version of Love Song) but the sound quality isn't too great.

  • only on word "classic"

  • My fav tune on sparkle, the album version is like rock and electro rolled into one. First time ive heard a live version, just superb. Top marks again, cheers Tony.

  • @TerenceHill24

I've got another live recording of it. I've not listened to it recently. I'll listen to it soon and see if its any different etc

I think it was played live 5 or 6 times in total.

  • But it is sad, I like the album version better. It's more pure and enthusiastic. Do you know whether there is a live version sounding more like the album version?? But it is nearly impossible to find, isn't it? =D
