@jaybs3 Could not agree more. He's a genius, Muhly is. So, young and just brilliant. I look forward to many new and provoking pieces from him.

I think this is out of audio synch?

good to hear a modern composer tries it in the direction of more classical, yet it is still very minimalistic.

According to the unpublished interview transcript outtakes (Rolling Stone, January 2009) Mr. Muhly's garbage disposal unit froze. He sought to save a few dollars by setting it free with a can of WD40 and an old viola string. His roommate walked in, and thinking it was some kind of sexual experiment, ran and got a vibrator. The sound of the string as it was pulled on by the vibrator and the stubborn disposal motor gave inspiration for the first movement.

Just simply amazing from Nico, the movie is so moving and so thought provoking, what great performances by Kate, David and Ralph.

This is painfully beautiful. I wonder how these haunting melodies come from someone so young . . . i could not be sad and listen to this music. .. it has the power to push one over the edge. wonderful.
