  • An 8 year old girl was gang-raped in Arizona yesterday, but why is that not part of your latest agenda, alongside domestic violence against women in NA, which is a far more serious problem than the contents of digital data?

Yet, your organization somehow believes that the safest country in the world, Japan, has more problems? What double standard is this? You have done nothing more than to demonize Japan while interfering with the Japanese people's right to the freedom of speech & expression.

  • @Koeiwarriorsfan Asshole

  • Anyone wishing to read more on this matter can have a look at this paper published in International Journal of Law and Psychiatry:

  • blame the one who decided it so and did it and not the legal content. This is why the law exists

to punish those who broke the law and not limit them before that he shouldn't watch porn.

  • If systems are set up so that they can't be easily sold, they won't be made. It's unlikely that amateurs would put together a decent 3D game for no monetary gain. That's what I meant.

  • Ooo market forces as regulators? i don't think so--look at the recent collapse in the economy--no regulations. Even Greenspan said that he made a serious "flaw" in thinking that market should have little or no regulations. And men would not have stopped beating the shit out of their wives unless it were illegal.

  • I believe that market forces are more effective than laws when regulating most types of activity.

Also laws are usually too inflexible when it comes to creative works and deciding as to when they went too far. Interpreting something as obscene according to law can get very subjective. I think its best to leave it to the industry. If they are clearly being reprehensive and all else fails, then laws are warranted. I don't think that's the case considering that the Japanese industry is adjusting

  • There actually aren't any laws against racist games in the US. Even a mainstream game like GTA Vice City was criticized at one point for a part where the player participates in gang wars between Cubans and Haitians.

Of course if a game goes too overboard, it will likely be denied classification and most stores will refuse to sell it. No laws needed.

Likewise, EOCS (ratings body in japan) has self-censored its members from selling rape games. That'll pretty much wipe out the market anyway.

  • While much of pornography is indeed degrading, saying that it always is is a bit of an overstatement.

Illusion itself made quite a few games (more so recently) that don't feature any violence or humiliation overtones.

  • @Flare400 Yes agree with this!

  • That actually is not true---all research proves that sexually violent behavior is curtailed when there is real risk of incarceration and public shaming. Read interviews with serial rapists, they all say that viewing pornography made them feel more compelled to rape real women. Men who view pornography say they begin to look at women on the street and their girlfriends as the women they were watching.
