External load flying is one of those things that makes a helicopter exclusively special. A load can be attached to a hovering aircraft, which can then transport that load with pinpoint accuracy somewhere else.
HAI member, Aircrane Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia, uses that power to transport an array of industrial air conditioning units to the roof of a massive commercial building that was under construction in Homestead, Florida.
If you think landing a helicopter is challenging, try landing an air conditioner that's dangling 50 feet below you... place it right alongside the duct-work... without damaging it... et cetera.
