I do't think so, most of the birds you see in these clips are shot to hell and back and being flown by wounded pilots,and btw it's not hard to land on the ground,try to land on something that moving in a shot up hellcat,while dealing with burns from a flash fire in the cockpit

Even in a simulator, carrier landings are difficult. In real life, where you can actually be maimed or killed, it must be much harder. In the Vietnam conflict, the pilots were more tense over carrier landings than they were from the NVA flack. That should tell us something.
