With 180000+ miles something is bound to go bad it sounds like your lifters are bad to me.

my 98 gt has over 200k on it, mileage isnt an issue. and the odometer is wrong, i have 3.73s, and never corrected it, it more like 150k.
im pretty sure its ptv.
