Jenelle is about 3 years old in this video clip taken in 2005. She is having an absence/complex partial, but this one is different as she is experiencing a hand tremor/twitch. Sorry for the background noise.

  • when she was twithing with her hand, is it normal if that just happens with your hand...? because my hand was twitching really baddly for non stop for about a few mins about a month ago, is this normal? because i dont think twitching lasts more than a few seconds...

  • Yes, a person can have hand twitching and have it not be seizure related. Usually hand twitching is not a sign of seizures. Our doctor thought this was significant because she had many seizures up to this, and the twitching indicated a "focal" seizure point. I hope that explains it.

  • I have posted videos of my daughter's seizures on You Tube to help other families that think their child might be seizing, so they know what seizures can look like. Also, to promote seizure awareness, so that people don't naively think all seizures look the same.

  • my sista has epliepsy so tht little girl is going through a rough time and stay strong :} my sister has only twiched her whole arm @ my skool once and she was holding on 2 a pencil sharpener. so dont 4get it can happen anywhere.

  • I can see that my posting here, because it was so long, were divided up,and go in the opposite order. So to read it correctly (before jumping all over me),you need to read them from the beginning, which is from the bottom,up. There are 5 total, starting at the bottom.

  • ..wish that people would stop posting videos like these. Again,as both an epileptic,AND as a medical professional, posting videos like these are not in the best interest of your child,or of other epileptics,or of the medical community. My opinion is that, that may not have even been a seizure at all,and even a diagnoses of epilepsy on your child, without an EEG,theres no way of knowing if that is indeed a type of seizure he is having,or just part of normal development.

  • ..as a proper way to "teach" awareness to the public at all. We know nothing about the patient, and we don't even really know if this is a real seizure at all. As an epileptic,I often have what appears to be a partial seizure, when in fact,it is not at all. I appreciate that a parent wants to educate the public, but this is NOT the way to do it. You are not a medical professional, and do not know what you would need to know,to PROPERLY educate the public. I'm sorry, but ti's true, and I really wish..

  • ..when they really do not. There are many different types of seizures, and every person displays, and experiences them differently. No one is the exact same. Many people then see see things that they think are a seizure, when it's really anything from nothing at all,to a stroke,or other types of issues. These videos, while I know they are posted under the context of ":helping" others, and educating the public, they are not,not at all.A 10 second clip, with an explanation by a layman, does not qualify as

  • Cont..

Twitching like that in small children, especially during sleep,is part of normal nerve development, and isn't usually a seizure. And while your child may really be having a seizure, others see the vid,and get scared, seeing their children or others doing the same thing. This leads to people getting scared, taking their children in for unneeded testing, and other issues. It also makes people who know nothing about seizures, look at them and think that they are not aware of what seizures are....

  • While I appreciate the sentiment behind it,I really wish people would stop posting videos like these on youtube of all places.I am an epileptic with grand mail, absence, simple partial, and complex partial seizures, and I'm also a medical professional. These videos serve only to confuse people, and make our jobs harder,as well as misqualify those of us with epilepsy. What your child is having there MAY very well be a partial seizure, but for most children, what is happening there is totally normal, cont

  • @sgibbons3 thank you it did

  • My daughter's neuro tried to tell me that when she had this hand twitching along with rapid eye blinking then rolling to the back of her head it wasn't a seizure... Well, the EEG showed that it WAS a seizure!

  • @chococat61298 Some people quit breathing during their seizures and some don't.. My nephew has to have CPR after EVERY seizure, my daughter has never quit breathing.. A seizure is simply misfiring in the brain. depending on where it is in the brain and how bad it is, it can look a million different ways. Hope this helps!
