How To Piss Tailwagger Off

A less than pleasant experience with a driver who should know better. When you point, mean it! This occurred during a PCA DE at Watkins Glen. For those that dont know, and the comments page is full of them, the rules of engagement are that there is no passing without a point. Once a point is given it is the obligation of the lead driver to stay on line and slow if necessary to safely manage the pass.

Just to make sure, what car (what 911, I presume) were you driving?

Quite a pity the obvious lack of a flat 6 soundtrack, if you allow me to say.

@fabaum22 The original sound track had some Jane's Addiction timed underneath. The sound of the engine was all well over it, but WB chose to force me to remove the sound track. Free internet music seemed better than silence. Idiotic use of their rights, but there you have it.

@Stig911 ...and yes 1970 tub, 911 RSR ducktail clone with 211 RWHP on R888s that day. Not slow, not fast, low 2:10s at WGI, done a :59 at LRP.

@Calum643 Thanks, but not so much reactions as anticipation. Going into the bus stop, you'll note my head is turned left, not right into the corner. If I hadnt had my eye on them we would have come together. I did have a few polite words with the offender after calming down. They really didnt get it. For various reasons, it wasnt really possible to make the point more forcefully. Seemed better just to document what truly bad DE behavior looks like and move on.

You carried some serious speed on 6. That was awesome! I had similar experience with a guy in a AC Cobra who didn't even know what an apex was. I'm in a mini cooper s with 220 hp on his ass in all the corners and he would give me the point by down the straight, except he would just floor it and leave me in the dust. Once we got back into the tech part of the course I would have to just ride his bumper and wait. The flag men finally gave him the black flag.

@MrChristoferJohnson Thanks man! Sadly, we're not the only ones to suffer this kind of bad behavior. Pretty much why I put the vid up in the first place. Glad to hear in your case the corner workers where alert, felt your pain and sent the offender off to explain it to the stewards.

@Stig911 The following driver has no right to pass until the lead driver points arm out left or arm over the roof, signalling pass me on the left or right. At that point the driver in front is supposed to do what it takes to safely allow the overtaking car to pass, including lift off the throttle. They are obligated NOT to race to the next corner. Hope that helps explain thing and why this was very bad behavior on the art of the lead driver.

The lead car has the same speed down the straight, but is holding up the following car in the corners.

What is a "point"???? Looks to me like you weren't fast enough to overtake but since you added that awful music instead of engine sounds, it's hard to tell how hard either of you were trying.
