@Krauto83 Just speculating, but to me it creates the idea of a hit (the effect of some drug) being clung onto to stop the writer falling into some unwanted reality (the 'pit' he refers to in the previous line). But that's such a cliche interpretation by me. Will Sheff would probably read what I just wrote and be like 'why does everyone always look for a sad, desperate meaning to my songs?' Sorry Will.
