Brighton & Hove Gay Men's Chorus @ Bright Gay Pride:
15,000 PRIDE REVELLERS TURN OUT FOR THE
BRIGHTON & HOVE GAY MEN'S CHORUS
EXCLUSIVE LIVE PERFORMANCE OF SONGS FROM THEIR DEBUT ALBUM OUT 3 OCTOBER
More than 15,000 revellers at last weekend's Pride Brighton & Hove were treated to an exclusive mid-afternoon performance by the The Brighton & Hove Gay Men's Chorus, who last week announced a first of its kind £1million record deal with Universal.
The 30 strong chorus were one of the main musical acts appearing on the Live Stage on Saturday 13 August, alongside Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry, giving them the perfect opportunity to showcase songs from their debut album, released 3 October.
Even the Mayor of Brighton & Hove, Anne Meadows and the Green MP for Brighton Pavilion, Caroline Lucas, had time to say hello to the chorus and congratulate them on their new record deal.
The Brighton & Hove Gay Men's Chorus performed five tracks during the afternoon in front of the packed crowd -- 'Playgrounds and City Parks' (Ian McCulloch) 'The Last Goodbye' (The Enemy), 'Hurt' (Nine Inch Nails), 'After The Gold Rush' (Neil Young) and a rousing rendition of 'Heroes', originally by David Bowie. These songs, and others, all feature on the album, a repertoire of alternative, rock and folk songs specifically chosen in order to challenge the expectations of what one would anticipate hearing from a gay men's chorus.
