Bigger, Stronger, Faster* is a 2008 documentary film directed by Christopher Bell about the use of anabolic steroids as performance-enhancing drugs in the United States and how this practice relates to the American Dream.

The film had its world premiere on January 19, 2008 at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. The film was shown at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2008, and opened in limited release in the United States on May 30, 2008.

On December 14, 2008, Mike Bell, brother of director Chris Bell, who was prominently featured in the film, died at 37.

Christian Boeving who appeared in the film admitting steroid use, was later fired by his sponsor, Muscletech. Christian was later interviewed on a small cable television show 'The Gregory Mantell Show', where he talked about the repercussions.

The documentary examines the steroid use of the director Christopher Bell and his two brothers, Mark and Mike Bell, who all grew up idolizing Arnold Schwarzenegger, Hulk Hogan, and Sylvester Stallone, and also features professional athletes, medical experts, fitness center members, and US Congressmen talking about the issue of anabolic steroids.

Beyond the basic issue of anabolic steroid use, Bigger, Stronger, Faster* examines the lack of consistency in how America views drugs, cheating, and the lengths people go to achieve success.

The film looks beyond the steroid issue to such topics as Tiger Woods' laser eye correction to 20/15 vision, professional musicians use of anxiety reducing drugs, or athletes' dependence on cortisone shots, which are a legal steroid. It takes a skeptical view of the health risks of steroids and is critical of the legal health supplement industry. (from Wikipedia)

  • I think steroids are like anything else, they have benefits and they have risks. If you wanna take them its your choice just like going to the bar on friday night or going to the gym and juicing up. I think whats most detrimental is the media and congress wasting their time on issues that are not as important as whats happening in the world. famine, sickness, poverty, etc- those should be issues we need to spend our time on thinking about, not whose on steroids.

  • @Evan34100 Okay, i don't want to be offense or anything but holy shit your comment has to be one of the stupidest comments ive ever read "kai greene is the only pro bodybuilder that i have any sympathy for because he is NATURAL bodybuilder." are you stupid? every bodybuilder in the olympia are on steroids and a shit load of other drugs it is NOT HUMANLY possible to get to that size without steroids everybody has a genetic limit steroids able's you to surpass that with HARD work and dedication.

  • i've learnt from this documentary that performance enhancing drugs are acceptable, however if you are not destroying others who care about you and if you take them in moderation knowing what could happen i'm not saying take steroids just don't be influenced into them and know what your doing and know the risks, don't rush into anything, awesome documentary :)

  • one of the best documentaries ive ever seen. great job bell. my opinion is that if you wanna do steroids then do them. its nobody elses place to tell you what to do. just if you do then dont over do it because thats when it gets dangerous.

  • its one thing to be American but its another thing to cheat. steroids are illegal and there for if they allow illegal cheating in the sport of bodybuilding and everyone is like why doesnt anyone care about the sport well its because its the only sport that allows illegal cheating and tollerates it. kai greene is the only pro bodybuilder that i have any sympathy for because he is NATURAL bodybuilder.
