Kudos to those who hosted this debate. The questions asked to the candidates gave the audience a clear view of what each candidate has to offer.
Liljenquist was the obvious winner in this debate. Hatch came across as defensive and had no real answers to the questions posed. He relied heavily on Romney's endorsement, while Liljenquist and Herod both showed their accomplishments at a state level, knowledge of the constitution and the proper role of government, and their visions for the future.

Hatch made one thing clear: He has an inflated opinion of himself. He needs to go fishing with Bob Bennett.

Orrin Hatch, as good as a man as he is, has not been doing his job. He has been protecting his power. He has fallen into the same corruption that all our government representatives have fallen into. I do not believe he is as bad as many in the Senate, but he long ago lost his purpose as a Senator for Utah. I don't care if he or the next guy get one thing past, I care that they push only conservative values and not compromise. It seems extreme, but necessary to me.

Do you think this was because of the issues and what was said or do you think his age is taking a toll on his energy and enthusiasm? Hard to tell from this vid.

Hill could easily get a budget cut or closed without support form lawmakers in state and on the hill. There are several articles in the paper about this as late as Feb 2012. Leon Panetta called for Base Realignment and Closure Commissions this year and another one is set for 2015. Does that mean we need Hatch to prevent? No.The state has an alliance and I assume any of the Repubs would attempt to protect Hill. My point is that you are wrong and to use this to bust on Hatch is equally wrong.

Also, Hill Air Force base is not now, nor has it ever, been under threat of closure. Hatch used that lie to get elected in the 70's, apparently he still think Utahns are dumb enough to bite that hook. Don't prove him right.

Hatch is one of the BIGGEST spenders in Washington. Check his voting record. This man is a large part of the problem that created the debt, do not believe he'll fix it.
He Supports NDAA, a bill which allows the military to detain citizens, indefinitely, w/o charge, access to an attorney and no trial. He supports government control and monitoring of the Internet via bills like SOPA, PIPA & CISPA.

I looked into BOTH Senator Hatch and Dan Liljenquist Very closely. And thought about it very carefully and I will continue to but I'm pretty certain I will be voting for Orrin Hatch. It may be his sixth term but it will be my first time voting for him.
