@spurcross. have run my dk beat paramotor since `96 with very little trouble, though the carb diaphragm did have to be changed, which is about average service for a 2t.also i run and race performance 2t mx bikes and have done so for decades with very good reliability record. stating "two strokes are pure junk" tells me that you do not know engines or how to look after good machinery which results in unreliability and then you blame the kit......that`s smart.
@gilessmokey Regarding pollution; it takes at least 7 kWh of electricity and 10,000 BTU of natural gas to distill and refine a gallon of liquid gasoline. I don't know the energy inputs for the heavily processed 2 stroke oil but it can't be ignored.
Comparing the reliability of electric to 2 stokes is downright funny. 2 strokes are pure junk, with good power-to-weight ratios being their only redeeming feature.
@thecaptkirk unless you are using renewable energy, your electric will still polute just as much. it is ithe prop that makes most noise and vibration and are rechargeable batteries reliable?i have got through many. some motors too. you will not be impressed with flight duration.
I used to paraglide and wanted to switch to paramotoring, but the 2-Strokes and the noise put me off. I always believed electric was the way to go for this sport and it's great to finally see them in action.
Good to see Mike Campbell still in the business too.
I'm extremely impressed with the quiet - the fact that the pilot is able to be clearly heard talking to the camera while flying under power - with no phase-canceling microphone, is very exciting.
The most obnoxious part of paramotors for those who've flown hang gliders or paragliders is the obnoxious 2cycle gas engines. They stink like a pig farm, pollute like hell, are noisier than a banshee, vibrate your bones to dust, and are unreliable. Other than that....
