'Tenderness in the Air' track number 2 from Final Fantasy V Piano Collections by Nobuo Uematsu.

Another soft and romantic piece from the FFVPC. There is something about this piece which makes it difficult for me to play it at the suggested, recorded tempo, as I play it much faster (approx 40 seconds swifter than the official recorded version), but even then for some reason, when playing it, it doesn't feel as though I am racing through it.

Anyway, this piece has a nice pulsating repeated note/beat in the left hand through out the intro and outro, which is perhaps meant to be like the pulsating of a regular heart (the tempo of the piece is 80MM, which is about the average heart rate), but perhaps I am looking into it too much here. This motif of the repeated note is seen again in the Final Fantasy IX Piano Collections, in the piece, 'Endless Sorrow' although there, it doesn't have an even, one beat per crotchet value. Also, this repeated note motif can be seen in Chopin's Raindrop prelude, op28, no.15. An interesting musical technique really, that I wish appeared more often in piano or any sort of music, as if used well, it can be quite stirring.

On a different note, for those of you who like to read, I've written a novel which can now be found on Amazon Kindle. Here is a link to the US store. The book is also available in other territories too, like the UK, France, Germany etc. Check it out!

  • U used some variation nice!

  • I appreciate your commentary on your pieces Ev. I like the fact that you take the to draw parallels between components of music and their impact on the emotions/feelings of the listener. Very well played. I also like the fact that piece has so many tensions thrown in everywhere yet it conveys tranquility throughout.
