@loriferens I haven't said that riding tours in other countries etc aren't like that... I've seen worse in a riding tour that is 1 hour from my house... but it's still too much and if u look at these horses they don't seem healty. Riding in water like that ask for a lot of energy. I know horse breeders and trainers that use water pools to train and fit their horses, but they are in the pool 15 min approx and they spend the rest of the day in a pasture, and they have grain on the morning...

@Horsepassion4life - three times in one day isn't what I would consider 'a lot of rides' and there is lots of time spent standing and walking in the shallows, not to mention the slow pace of the ride through the countryside first and after the ocean riding. Rides like this are no different from many riding tours in Canada and the States, the exception being that this is ocean riding in a poorer country, so they don't have as much as other places.

I'm not a vet, nor do I own a horse so I cannot claim superior knowledge there, but from all the vidsI have watched to research this, it seems to me that the horses rode at a very relaxed pace and they know where they are going so well that riders are pulling back a bit on reins to keep the horses from trotting too fast. There is lots of standing time in the water where horses are rested and yes, they are thin compared to 'pet' horses, but they still look healthy to me.

these horses make a lot of rides like that one in 1 day. They're exausted, not well fed etc. It might be fun, but people don't even know how to ride and pull in the horses mouth.. reins aren,t someting to help you holding on the horse! I'm sad to see that...

horses asr the same species around the world and have the same biological needs everywhere and horses that are over used are what any intellegent person call abuse and Jamacia is one of the worst offenders

@CocoLovesHorses14 they raise horses differently in different countries. I have trained in a country where i was taught to make the hors elisten to EVERYTHING and push him to extremes, coming back into the UK i learnt actually respecting and bonding with them is more rewarding, although, horses do love the sea, my horse had her ears back to prevent water spray going into her ears, but yes loads were underweight. :(

Eughh. I come from the UK, and yeah it looks great in Jamaca but seriously? Those poor horses! They where underweight and they had thier ears back the whole time?Good fun for the rider, but what about the horse? I have one so I know

Come to Jamaica and take a horse for a drag through the water!
DO NOT DO THIS! I did this last week thinking it looked like fun. The concept of the ride is great but the reality is dreadful. The horses are extremely underweight due to having to do the tour about 3 times a day. The guides are incompetent when it comes to horses. They hit them and jerk on the reins at the same time and turn them sharply at a gallop ( almost causing them to fall). Horses are only given about a 10 min break in between rides and are not given water. I do NOT reccomend this ride.
