i just did an actual double take- seriously, i looked down from the screen for a second, went "WTF", and immediately looked back up. reason: i thought i saw a black man wearing an atheist scarlet letter. kudos! not enough visible black atheists out there.

When you get down to it, it really is appalling that someone like Dawkins has to waste his time dealing with assaults on evolution by the ignorant. Yet religion, and regressive, literalist Bible religion in particular, still holds tremendous power over much of America. The same people who would dismiss ghosts, magic, and super powers as fiction insist on special exceptions for their Jesus, Holy Spirit, and God. America insists on keeping one foot in the Middle Ages.
