I'm rather surprised these tourists thought that was funny. I hear it's a different experience if you're on foot, or underfoot as the case may be.

Well, the elephants were all standing in a circle with the calves in the center, so they are already on the defensive at the beginning of the video. The elephant charging was probably the matriarch of the herd, who wasn't too keen on letting some silly humans get near the calves.
