A tribute to the U.S. 442nd Regimental Combat Team, formed in 1943 by Presidential permission with Japanese-American volunteers. We follow the training of a platoon under the rueful command of Lt. Mike Grayson who shares common prejudices of the time. The 442nd serve in Italy, then France, distinguishing themselves in skirmishes and battles; gradually and naturally, Grayson's prejudices evaporate with dawning realization that his men are better soldiers than he is. Not preachy.

Nope. A remake is not needed. Hollywood is in the business of ruining classics, not improving them.

  • People ARE still dumb enough to judge each other based on skin color, the shapes of the eyes, etc. FORTUNATELY, though, the human race is always evolving and getting smarter about that -- the Civil Rights Movement of the 60's wasn't that long ago, after all, and look how far we've come

  • somebody plz tell me the name of the song at the very begining of the video i have been looking for it forever

  • @fireplug111 Though I agree with this. Ken Watanabe to my knowledge is not wanting to do a remake he wants to do a legitimate movie. Knowing how seriously he does things I think he can do the 442 in a movie honorably.

  • I love the look on that German officer's face when he says,"what kind of troops are these, chinese"? ha ha ha....

  • A terrible and foolish mistake to do to the Japanese, they were hard working and loyal to America and didn't deserve to be put in camps!

  • Not exactly a proud moment of our history. And it appears the history is slowly repeating itself in America, only with different groups of people this time.

  • a salute to all the US services both men and women serving from the past to the present and future.

  • i am japanese american , i am proud of these men and all of the other americans that fought in the war, i respect every side that fought in the war, the leaders should be blamed for the horrific things that happened during the war, not the people

  • Chick reminds of a sailor I knew in the Navy, except he was Chinese. Sounds and looks just like him! All he talked about was getting some real Chinese food all of West Pac! When when he hit port in Brazil he found a Chinese Restaurant, but he was so disappointed because it was Brazilians doing the cooking! The look on his face was priceless! He always made me laugh!

  • @icytadbull there is one that came about a few years ago that got a limited release it's called "Only the Brave", and is Pat Morita's last movie. I happen to see a special screening of it in San Diego with surviving 442nd members and got to meet the stars of the movie!
