*I do not recommend doing this with a good drill. It could damage it if used extensively. Use with a router could be more effective*

How to easily and quickly make a small lathe that will fit on the end of your drill for small work. You can clamp the drill in place on a desk for easy handling or use the drill to grind against sandpaper for example. The wood is held on the bit via pressure and every once in a while you might need to hit it a couple more times with a hammer. Its not perfect, but its a cheap alternative to a lathe if your only making a few small parts. Enjoy.

Use at your own risk, and as with all power tools use them carefully. This video is for informational purposes only. The author is not responsible for any accidents or injury that may result from attempting to build the items shown.

  • So much negativity.Good for you.

I would imagine majority of negative comments are from folks that only make things in their minds and not their sheds.

  • @express375 Thank you :)

  • You'll break you drill very fast using it that way. Drill is adjusted only to axial load

  • I hadent thought of that - maybe wrapping sandpaper around it or something would ease the load?

  • yep,he's right. If ya wanna do that sort of thing, get yourself a cheap ass hammer drill(not set to hammer).Cause if you keep doing it that way,you will create alot of slop in the bearings, and could damage them.

Also if you wrap the paper around the item you reduce this about 90%. I use this method occasionly to reduce the diameter of steel.

  • @djpaulk

Yeah, I can see that. Maybe a cheap router would work too...?
