I found that rotoscoping in Mocha is much much better than doing this in After Effects.

Mocha for after effects is a great tool, but their newer version mocha pro allows you to do even more check it out on imagineersystems homepage. Its well worth it.

hello ...
your video was great help to me, right now the footage i have to deal with has little contrast (black hair on shades of beige and orange) using calculations and levels doesn't do any good, so i wonder if there is any other possibility to use your technique on lower contrast footage, maybe use different effects?

@siegfriedproksch Hi. Low contrast footage can be very tricky. You may have some luck converting the footage to YUV or HSL with the channel combiner, then checking out the channels there to see if one stands out. Maybe building up the layers, focusing on different areas of the image. Use masks to help out.
Hope that helps.

man, is this how hard to rotoscope? i know there are any other way how to rotoscope and its better result than the one made so difficult if u know what i mean... come on!

@napenzki I have no idea what you mean. If you want to get a perfect roto shape and keep fine details in (like hair) you've got to get your hands dirty.
This is not a simple piece of video designed to show off a particular tool. It's a tricky, real world problem, which professionals have to deal with every day.
Let me know the other techniques to handle this type of footage. I'd be interested in hearing them.

Can I reduce noise in a specific channel with the help of Calculations, blending modes and 3 layers of the same source?
Nice tutorial.

@Bauzi514 Yes, but remember that if you change one channel to reduce the noise, you will also change the colour in the overall clip. So you will have to compensate for that. Not easy to explain in 500 characters. I'll stick it on the list for new tutorials to make :D
