so how are these cards powered? i mean what runs the sound chip inside? does the crank power a dynamo and that provides the power or does the chip just have a motion sensor that tells the music to play whenever the crank is turned?

Yes, the song is listed as "Vacation" and it it used courtesy of "APM Music", if that help at all. I don't know much more about it, other than it sounds very familiar.

I have been searching for some time now to find the song to the very same island scene card you speak of. My girlfriend and I were looking for a nice card for a Hawaiian themed party, and loved the song on the card (though the price for it was a little high for us). I think I saw it was called "Vacation," but am not sure. Do you know where I could perhaps find the song?

There is another very nice card that shows an island scene with hula dancer and ukulele player.
There are also several designs that utilize the little crank for motion, but have no sound unit. They are very creative and worth checking out.
