Playing here is (currently) Margaret Cook's wonderful sounding 93 Keyless Ruth Fair Organ, at the 2010 Great Dorset Steam Fair.
The tune being played here (by my special request!) is 'Vater Rhein Marsch' or 'Father Rhine March' composed by Paul Lincke, as the opening of the video clip shows - kindly put through the keyframe by a helpful gentleman who I have since learnt is Peter Mackett. I always think this tune sounds particularly good on Ruth and Carl Frei organs, I hope you enjoy it.

    thanks for sharing Peter ;)

  • @samarapresley1 Lol! That's no problem, I'm sure he doesn't mind ;)

  • Why is it 'currently' Margaret Cook's organ? Has it been bought by a new owner?

  • @ceredigio No not yet but word is it may be sold if the right person comes along - if not Margaret will keep it. So it is still Margaret Cook's :)

  • @121omePiet Yes it will indeed remain in the UK! It has recently been bought by Nigel Myers of York, owner of the 89 key 'de Grote Gavioli'.

  • @nickn5nl It has recently been bought by Nigel Myers of York, owner of the 89 key 'de Grote Gavioli'. So it will remain in the UK! :-)

  • @nickn5nl I heard that it is sold now but it stays in the UK (?)

  • @nickn5nl There was a notice on it at this year's Great Dorset Steam Fair saying it was for sale.

  • @ceredigio It certainly is,it's exactly the same arrangement!

  • @petermackett37 Isn't Frei's arrangement of this on the Thursford Wellerhaus as well?

  • @petermackett37 Who arranged books is always important, but what is more important, who cut them or who supplied them?

  • @ceredigio Carl Frei but the book was cut and supplied by Marcel van Boxtel,he had an agreement with Frei to supply his arrangements.

  • @petermackett37 There does not appear to be any markers name on the book cover, who arranged it?

  • @petermackett37 this is great. and a friend from the rhein river said it matches their mentality perfectly. i, though, as a berliner, find this berliner lincke composition not in the berliner tradition and somewhat misplaced. it is just not berliner like all the other lincke stuff.
