Dear sir, I will not resort to name calling, but I will answer, first I'm not a liberal. Or republican, although I used to vote largely republican. If this system was not in place, Obama would have won the popular vote and won anyway.

we ELECT REPRESENTATIVE POLITICIANS. democracy means every issue is settled by popular vote you dipstick. that'd be like having a popular vote to see if we go into iraq, raise taxes, or build a road. the electoral college is terrible. and the president deserves popular vote election

Learn the difference between the technical terms "republic" and "democracy" before pretending intellectualism. The term you're referring to is "representative democracy", you intellectually challenged idiot.

You have this all wrong. The electoral college actually helps to give smaller states a greater representation in elections. If it weren't for the college presidential candidates would spend all of their time in large states like California and Texas, where having even a small minority of the vote is more valuable than having 100% of the vote of a small state like Wyoming! Even 20% of California's 37 million people is greater than 100% of, say Indiana, at 6 million. That's why we have the system.

were it not for the electoral college, New York, and California would elect every president, the president is leader of the whole not the leader of a few, with the electoral college, Candidates need every state they can get. That's why the founding fathers set it up that way.

since each state has it's own government anyway there is no mob rule there. The electoral college is kinda bs if you ask me. Get rid of it and keep the senate. That way states still have power and whoever actuallly wins an election will be appointed to office. Voting is pointless anyways ;)
