I used to sing this song on high school Scholar' Bowl bus trips, and during my first year of college at Mississippi University for Women. One of my Rogue Pledge Sisters asked me to post it to YouTube, so I did.

  • Oh! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I cried a little when I heard this! I miss you so much and you sound wonderful, and you look beautiful, too! XOXOXO

  • Miss you too! I'm glad you enjoyed.

  • Ok.

Thanks for singing. It's an awesome song.

The video is a pale shadow to the live version. These dang studio bands don't know this, but a true performance band like Cera really has to be taken as high bandwidth as possible.

  • One of my intents while in town last time was to record this with you singing the chorus with me -- I think that would have been a lot better. I'm ultimately a performing *ham*, and I do better when I'm sharing the music with someone in person.

  • Sorry, I keep running out of text, this is the final verse.

So she slipped her hand right up his kilt, And much to her surprise,

The Scotsman smiled, And a very strange look came into his eyes,

She said: "Why, sir, that's gruesome!" And then she heard him roar:

"If you stick yer hand up once again, You'll find it grew some more!"

  • Our Scottish friend, still dressed in kilt, Continued up the street

He hadn't gone ten yards or more, When a lass he chanced to meet.

She said: "I've heard what's underneath there, Tell me, is it so?"

He said: "Just slip your hand up, lass, If y'really want to know!"

  • I'm glad that some Americans remember their real heritage rather than just claiming to be Irish all the time. It's a shame that a lot of the younger generation of Americans don't even know where Scotland is. Trust me I'm 16 and have spoken to a lot of Americans/Canadians.

From a Scottish born a bred. Thank you for this cover.

  • @singingcera Marry me?

  • @GLORD99092 A lot of "yanks" come from Scottish heritage. Me for instance. That's all.

  • @GLORD99092 It was actually written by Irishmen.

  • I think I just fell in love:) Great singing!

  • Awesome voice. Love this song and now yours is one of my favorite versions!!!

  • What a lovely voice.
