"Stuff Life That" is a hit song with music and lyrics written by Quincy Jones, Ashford & Simpson, Steve Gadd, Eric Gale, Ralph MacDonald and Richard Tee. The song was originally an instrumental rhythm track. Jones worked on the track with Ashford & Simpson, Chaka Khan and studio musicians Gadd, Gale, MacDonald and Tee to turn it into a single. Ashford & Simpson and Khan featured as vocalists while George Young was playing alto saxophone. The song was included on Jones' 1978 album Sounds...And Stuff Like That!. The single spent one week at number one on the R&B singles chart and peaked at number twenty-one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. [1].

  • This track has all the heavy hitters on it...Michael Jackson is singing backgound on it and so is Patty Austin. Along with Ashford and Simpson Quincy Jones put together a master piece for this time period in music.

  • Excellent !

  • thank you for posting!. we will all miss these two singing together, but we will still have the wonderful music they made together!. this is one of the most beautiful songs. the orchestra is on point!!. great dance music. it makes you happy. r.i.p. nick!

  • As the first female solo on this song, Valerie Simpson demonstrates what a fantastic voice she has. She more than holds her own against the great Chaka, who has the second female solo later in the song. This is one of the best songs out of the dance/disco era of the late 1970s!

  • @Zandi5 Me too, I can't shake this grief "it seems to hang on, like a shadow it follows" - I wish somebody would "loose me please please". I am going to miss him so - greatest musical poet of my lifetime.
